Plant description: It is a perennial herb with linear banded aromatic leaves that form compact bushes up to 1 meter or more in height. The leaves are light green in color and measure between 60 mm and 1.5 cm wide .The floral stem reaches 1.5 to 2 m in height: the numerous branches end in spikes of 10 to 15 mm. Flowering is biennial. Originally from the Indian subcontinent and Southeast Asia, this plant has spread and is currently cultivated as a medicinal plant in tropical and subtropical regions. It can also be grown in areas with a Mediterranean climate in sheltered places and protected from winter frosts. It belongs to the citronella family.
