Description of the plant: It is a biennial plant that can reach two meters in height when it flowers. It has compound leaves and flowers grouped in globular umbels. The fruits are oblong. This plant does not grow naturally in Catalonia. It is cultivated in France, especially in the department of Deux-Sèvres, where it serves mainly as one of the components of Chartreuse, Bénédictine, Vermouth and Dubonnet liqueurs. Two subspecies are recognized: Angelica archangelica subsp. archangelica and Angelica archangelica subsp. littorals
Traditional medicine: It is an excellent lymphatic and eupeptic stimulant (favors digestion, either by regulating the secretion and composition of gastric juices, or by improving its activity by adding or removing one of its elements).
Properties: Very good Sedative and Anxiolytic, Anticoagulant and Heart Regulator (Hypotensor) Applications: High blood pressure, Heart rhythm problems, Anxiety and pressure on the chest, Anxiety, stress, depression and insomnia, Thick blood, Slow and heavy digestion.
